Officials announced, has created the conditions for EXIT Festival to make Montenegro its new home.
According to the official information reviewed today by members of the Government, Montenegro has a unique opportunity during the 2026 summer season to make a major breakthrough in the field of international event tourism.
The organization of two major international music events under the joint title "EXIT to Montenegro" in Ulcinj during the first half of July, and Sea Dance Festival in Budva at the end of August, has the potential to generate measurable economic benefits for the tourism industry and the wider economy, while also creating a very strong promotional effect globally.
According to estimates, the two events together are expected to generate at least 210,000 overnight stays and more than €40 million in direct tourism spending.
The proposed public support amounts to €1.5 million from the state budget, with additional support from the municipalities of Budva and Ulcinj.
By implementing this project, Montenegro aims to position itself as one of the leaders in event tourism in Europe — a tourism sector that already generates more than €100 billion annually worldwide.
Officials emphasized that EXIT Festival is one of the most recognizable festival brands in the world, with a strong international reputation, having generated hundreds of millions of euros in local tourism spending so far.
Among its most important international recognitions are:
- Three Best Major Festival titles at the UK Festival Awards and European Festival Awards
- Award for Best Event Organization in Europe in 2025
Research also shows that 83% of surveyed visitors stated the festival was the sole reason for visiting the destination, confirming the direct link between festival presence and tourism demand.
The Government added that hosting this project would not only bring major international music events, but also provide a strong boost to the strategic development of creative industries, helping attract leading global digital nomads, content creators, and retain young talent in the country.
Considering that Montenegro is marking 20 years since the restoration of independence, the Government will also provide additional support to the most important domestic festivals traditionally held in Montenegro.
