The island-hotel Mamula Island in Herceg Novi will open its doors for visits from locals in the second half of September and in the next two months, through cultural events, organized tours and tours, will present the offer of the destination to all citizens of Montenegro.

This was announced by the general manager of Mamula Island, Henning A. Schaub.

"These will be the first visitors after the careful reconstruction and transformation of the old Austro-Hungarian fortress into a five-star boutique hotel, and an opportunity to present our vision to create an exclusive boutique hotel & spa, preserving and restoring the rich heritage of Montenegrin culture and history that we remember with dignity, in an authentic ambience that provides a unique oasis of hospitality for our guests, in all seasons," said Schaub.

According to him, from the middle of this month, Mamula Island will be a place for organizing smaller cultural events, meetings with local artists and cultural workers, public figures and in general locals primarily from Herceg Novi and Boka.

"It is part of a kind of preparation for the start of commercial work and our intention to first present to the local community all the stages of the destination's renovation, as well as the offer we have created," added Schaub.

Thanks to reconstruction with full respect for conservation principles, the 19th-century fortification and cultural monument was illuminated for the first time in its 170-year history.

He said that the lighting of the island highlighted the impressiveness and architectural perfection of Mamula Island, as well as that this moment was particularly significant to symbolize the beginning of a new and brighter perspective of Mamula.

"We are proud of the opportunity to nurture the authentic spirit and rich cultural, artistic and historical heritage of Mamula Island," Schaub added.

According to him, the Mamula Island team wants to create a new world on the island, far from everyday life, as a place that can be visited in all seasons and indulge in an individualized experience of hospitality.

Schaub added that the reconstruction and transformation of Mamula Island into a hotel & spa center was a big challenge on different levels, but that it was realized by the responsible application of all regulations and the conservation project signed by top experts in the field.

Mamula Island is a five-star boutique hotel, created by the restoration of a fortress from the 19th century into a sophisticated hotel & spa with 32 rooms and suites, with a holistic spa center, beach, swimming pools, restaurants and bars. Within the hotel there is a historical-memorial gallery that will preserve the memory of the entire history of this place, which also includes the dark chapter during the First and Second World Wars.
