Local walkers: Walk around the island with the most beautiful beaches in Europe

It is known as the largest, and for many the most beautiful island of the Montenegrin coast. There are several names - St. Nicholas, after the church that (according to legend) was built by the Crusaders at the end of the 11th century, Školj - after the Italian name for the rock and Hawaii - after the restaurant that worked on the island for a long time.
Multiple names for one island is a common occurrence in Montenegro. Almost every island has at least two names, although it confuses tourists.

Island of St. Nikola is located not far from the coast of Budva and is a favorite summer resort. The reason for that is the beautiful beaches that even the prestigious "Forbes" ranked among the nine most beautiful in Europe.

And have you ever walked this island in winter?

Thanks to the recent arrangement of hiking trails, you can embark on this adventure regardless of the season. You can reach the island by taxi boat from the Old Town, at a cost of 15 euros (for two, return).

This was recently done by John and John, our Local Walkers.
They used the first day of spring to walk on freshly landscaped paths and enjoyed, as Ivana says, a "completely different dimension".

The smell of pine trees, a stone folded like a cake, the view of the Queen's Beach, all shades of blue…

Although beautiful, the beaches make up only a small percentage of the island's surface. Most of it is lush Mediterranean vegetation - pine and spruce forests, which were once a nature reserve of animals such as deer, mouflon, rabbits, pheasants…

For now, there are various birds, as well as goats - one of which joined Ivana and Ivana on a walk 🙂

It is interesting that on that day Budva was crowded and the island was deserted. A real escape to untouched nature.

The trail is 3km long and not demanding, although there is little climb.

Find out how to find the beginning of the trail, where to go to the most beautiful lookouts, but also what you can eat on the island in the video of Local Walkers.
