The Kotor - Lovćen cable car will be opened on May 1, the Mina-business agency in the Novi Volvox company has learned.
Recognizing the importance of the Kotor - Lovćen cable car for the Montenegrin tourist offer, the Government, i.e. the relevant ministries and the Montenegrin Electric Distribution System (CEDIS), took the necessary steps within their jurisdiction to speed up the implementation of the obligations under the construction contract concluded with the consortium Novi Volvox & Leitner Italy.
Thanks to this, the conditions were met for the Kotor - Lovćen cable car to start operating on May 1.
The cable car will be available for visitors during the entire season, i.e. from May 1 to November 1.
The Kotor-Lovćen cable car was opened for commercial use on August 14 last year.
The project is implemented by the Novi Volvox - Leitner consortium based on the concession agreement signed in December 2021. The cable car was built in just over a year since the foundation stone was laid in July last year.
The route of the cable car starts from Dub, which is located in the territory of the Municipality of Kotor, and leads to the location of Kuk on the Lovćen mountain, at an altitude of 1.35 thousand meters above sea level. The projected capacity is 48 gondolas at the level of 1.2 thousand passengers per hour, while the travel time from Dub station to Cook station is less than 11 minutes.
