Lake Zminica - wild nature at your fingertips

A few minutes' drive from Njeguđa, nestled in a bay surrounded by coniferous forests, there is a lake that always smells of autumn - Zminičko. Although it is located on Sinjajevina, it belongs to the Durmitor National Park. It got its name from the place of Zminice in Zabljak, where it is located. It has an altitude of 1285 m.

The depths of the lake, which reach up to six meters, hide the Serdar newt - a type of salamander that exists only here and nowhere else in the world.
There is a well-maintained footpath around the lake, and in the summer months the water warms up so you can swim.

There are two ways to get to Lake Zminica - when you take the Žabljak - Most na Đurđevića Tara road towards Njegovija and continue another 3 km from Žabljak via Virk and Banski kuća, which is a longer route.

During the warm summer months, the waters of the lake warm up, so that many swimmers can enjoy swimming at an impressive 1286 meters above sea level, which attracts a large number of nature lovers to this lake.

A hiking trail stretches around the lake, which is 280 meters long and 240 meters wide, so you can admire this glacial pearl from all angles, and also enjoy the nature that surrounds it. The depths of the lake, which reach up to 6 meters, also hide the serdar newt, a species of mountain salamander, which found its home in this lake and cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Until a few years ago, this lake was in danger of disappearing due to runoff. Fortunately, nature-loving people who live near this lake stopped the flow of water, cleaned the lake and ensured that this work of nature can still be admired by everyone who comes here.

Use these days to visit Žabljak and enjoy the beauty of Durmitor's lakes!
