Kotor: The festival is coming, come to the carnival!

This year's traditional Kotor Carnival will be held from February 25 to March 5, announced the co-organizer of the event, NVU "Fešta", for Radio Kotor.

The raising of the carnival flag on the Square from the hour, when the City Music, majorettes and masks will tour the Old Town, is planned for Saturday, February 25 at 11 am. After that, a concert by the "Šufit" klapa will take place on the Square of Weapons.

Children's masquerade ball, carnival raffle, abrum and gnocada

A day later, a traditional children's masquerade ball is planned, at the "Blue Kotor Bay" hotel in Prčany, starting at 4 p.m. The carnival raffle is scheduled for February 27 at the "Camelija" school.

"The day after that is the "Za nas Kotorane" abrum, where we carnivalists will come out. Everyone is welcome to join us at 6 p.m. We are going with drums around the city, bars, houses to ŠC "Kamelija", where the competitive gnocchi will be held that evening" - announced Vasilije Bajrović, president of NVU "Fešta", for Radio Kotor.


Concert of majorettes, masquerade ball, big abrum and Skaljarska dinner

On March 2 at 6 p.m., a majorette concert "Festa" - "We are all a festival" is scheduled in the Cultural Center.
The traditional Kotor masquerade ball is planned for March 3 at the "Blue Kotor Bay" hotel, starting at 9 p.m.
The great excitement that heralds the Kotor Carnival has been announced for March 4 at 11 a.m., when the City Bands and majorettes will tour the Old Town. On the same day, the "Skaljar Dinner" will be held in the House of Culture in Škaljari.


Carnival procession and burning of the culprit

The carnival procession is planned for March 5, starting at 3:00 p.m., on the stretch from the Summer Pool to Mace, where the person responsible for all the misfortunes of Kotor in the past year will be tried, judged and burned.

After that, a musical program will already be in progress in the Old Town, with a performance by the band "Toć", followed by a concert by Jelena Rozga, at 7 p.m.

I would like to use the opportunity to invite all carnivalists and carnival groups to make this year's carnival bigger with their presence, because we want to start this year with the real Kotor carnival, for Kotor groups to return and for that carnival spirit to return to Kotor that has never been there before. missing, but we got a little lazy, it seems to me, so here's an invitation to everyone who wants to be part of the carnival procession," Bajrović concluded in an interview with Radio Kotor.

The organizer of the carnival is JU Cultural Center "Nikola Đurković", the co-organizer of NVU Fešta, and the sponsor is the Tourism Organization of Kotor and the Municipality of Kotor.
