The largest bookshop ship in the world "Logos nada" will soon arrive in Montenegro, where it will spend a month. This was confirmed on the site by the owners of this unusual ship, the international organization Good Books for All (GBA).
"Logos Nada", which contains several hundred thousand books, i.e. over 5,000 titles from various fields, is currently in the Albanian port of Valona, and after Durrës it will sail into the port of Bar on October 20. Then, on November 8, the ship will be moved to Portonovi marina near Herceg Novi, where it will remain until November 21. After Montenegro, "Logos nada" continues to Greece, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan...
In the literary fund of the largest ship's bookshop in the world, there are mostly books in English, and in addition to fiction and professional titles from several fields, such as various branches of science, history, art, gastronomy, sports, hobbies and religion, it also has an enviable collection of textbooks for foreign language, mathematics, geography and history faculties.
On this 132.5-meter-long and 21-meter-wide ship of 12,519 gross tons, there is a crew of about 300 people who come from 60 countries of the world. Everyone - from the commander to the last sailor and cook - are volunteers and are not paid for their work. Most of them live on a ship that cruises the world promoting the power of books, education and knowledge.
During their stay in various ports, the crew of "Logos Nade" organizes various courses for the local population, or helps them through various voluntary and collaborative actions with local non-governmental organizations. The goal of the crew of this unusual, cosmopolitan ship is to show in practice how people coming from different communities, cultures and religions can live and function together very nicely and beautifully. The ship is mainly financed by voluntary contributions from donors, that is, by the sale of the books themselves, which GBA acquires from donor-publishers for a fraction of their real, market price. There is also an admission fee for visitors who wish to tour and purchase some of the books offered by this unique floating bookstore.
To date, "Logos Hope" has sailed almost 110 thousand nautical miles in the world's seas and oceans, visited 118 ports in 70 countries of the world, and hosted almost 7.9 million visitors who passed through its decks and lounges with books. In total, over 8.1 million books have been sold on that ship so far.
