As of today, Vienna and Tivat are connected by a direct airline for the first time. Flights on this route are operated by the Austrian national airline company, Austrian Airlines. Operations were announced three times a week until the end of October. The flight lasts about an hour and 20 minutes.
The ceremonial welcome of the first passengers from Vienna was attended by the president of the Board of Directors of ACG, Eldin Dobardžić, executive director, Vladan Drašković, member of the OD, Slavko Vukčević, director of Tivat Airport, Vladimir Praščević, director of the Tivat Tourism Organization, Nina Lakičević, representatives of the National Tourist Organization and colleagues from Austrian companies.
The importance of opening this line goes beyond the immediate benefits, given that Austrian Airlines is part of the largest European network of air carriers, the Lufthansa Group, as well as being a member of the first global network of international airlines, Star Alliance.
The representative of the Lufthansa Group for Montenegro and Serbia, Katarina Bailla, emphasized that the opening of a new route from Vienna to Tivat proves that our country is an important market for that company.
"As a result of the high demand for travel to Montenegro, Austrian Airlines responded with an offer of three weekly flights on the route Vienna - Tivat. With two daily rotations on the route Vienna-Podgorica, Austrian Airlines will have a total of 17 weekly rotations to Montenegro", said Bailla.
She reminded that, during the season, since 2018, Tivat has been connected to Frankfurt and Munich via Lufthansa. In addition, Eurowings connects Tivat with Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, while Edelweiss will also operate from Zurich starting this summer.
"All these are indicators of the decisive presence of the Lufthansa Group in Montenegro. During this summer, our companies will connect Montenegro with Austria, Germany and Switzerland with 25 weekly rotations", said Bailla.
"We connect people, cultures and economy. We believe that direct lines from Tivat to Frankfurt, Munich and Vienna are very important. A vital incentive for the further development of Montenegro is the improvement of air availability", added Bailla.
