Mirko and his horses are breaking records during the covid pandemic in the north of Montenegro

The north of Montenegro is known for its numerous lakes, mountains, national parks, healthy food and untouched nature. For this reason, every year there are more and more tourist nature lovers in the mountains of Montenegro. Ten years ago, in the north of Montenegro, an authentic tourist offer was developed in the form of eco-Katun settlements. They are characterized by small wooden stone houses, with homemade food made from domestic ingredients, located in the untouchable nature . One of the people who best know all this nature place is Mirko with his horses.

For several years, he has been spending summers with his family at the Vranjak katun, in a hut. He is also engaged in animal husbandry. Nevertheless, on social networks he is recognized as a successful organizer of equestrian tours and a good connoisseur of all the beauties of Bjelasica. He "shares" his working day with Instagram users in a rather authentic way. His profile on that social network is a real treasure trove of interesting photos, observations and anecdotes. Mirko's camera did not miss the first snow this fall ... The appearance of the coronavirus, claims Šćepanović, brought people back to nature.

"This season has been the best. Last year I did 207 tours, and today it was 226. The next two days will be nice weather and the weekend will be 'full'. If time allowed, I would have done another 50 rounds by the end of the season. I am satisfied, last summer was successful when it comes to the number of tourists, and it brought a lot of new experiences, new faces and interesting events, "Mirko told" Vijesti "on Friday, after seeing off the guests and settling the horses.

Covid19 didn't bother my job. People are more often looking for clean air on the mountain, and that worked for me. Tours are scheduled through my Instagram profile. I saw that there are as many domestic tourists as possible, so that I don't just depend on the agencies I work with. This year, the real value of that profile was shown ", explains the young man.

He says he has 11 horses and that the mountain riding tours last two to three hours. Scepanovic explains that the tours to the pastures of Bjelasica are shorter, the "circular" ones with a view of Pesic Lake are longer.

"When we go pastures and meadows over the mountain, the view is beautiful on both sides. Komovi, Ključ, Prokletije, and on the right is Sinjavina, Moračke muntains ... The three-hour tour will be circular with a view of Pešića Lake. It is very interesting, but with less space for trotting or galloping ", says Šćepanović. It was a summer this day when he had two or three tours, and he points out that it is not easy to be in the saddle for hours, and at the same time try to give tourists as much information as possible about the areas they ride.
