Europe, unlike other continents such as South America or Asia, has very few areas that can be classified as rainforests. The term "rainforest" typically refers to regions with high annual rainfall and a dense, evergreen forest canopy. In Europe, due to its temperate climate, what we find are mostly temperate rainforests, which are quite rare and significantly different from the tropical rainforests found in other parts of the world.

As of my last update, there are only a few notable areas in Europe that can be considered as rainforests:

1. Norwegian Fjords, Norway: Parts of coastal Norway, especially along the Norwegian Fjords, have temperate rainforests due to the high levels of precipitation they receive and the presence of dense, old-growth forests.
2. Atlantic Forests, British Isles and Ireland: These areas, particularly in parts of western Scotland, Ireland, and some areas in Wales and England, have fragments of temperate rainforest. These forests are characterized by a high level of humidity and rainfall, and they host a variety of mosses, lichens, and ferns.
3. Biogradska Gora, Montenegro: As previously discussed, Biogradska Gora is one of the last remaining virgin rainforests in Europe. It's part of the broader category of temperate rainforests but is unique due to its preservation of ancient, old-growth forest characteristics.
4. Caucasus Rainforests, Georgia and Turkey: In the Caucasus region, particularly in parts of Georgia and northeastern Turkey, there are areas of temperate rainforests. These forests are rich in biodiversity and have unique ecological characteristics.
5. Appenine Deciduous Montane Forests, Italy: Parts of the Appenine mountains in Italy have forests that can be classified as temperate rainforests. These areas receive high amounts of rainfall and host diverse ecosystems.

Strategic Location Biogradska Gora's location in the heart of Montenegro makes it an accessible destination from both the capital city and the coastal towns. From Podgorica to Biogradska Gora

• Distance: Biogradska Gora is approximately 85 to 90 kilometers northeast of Podgorica, the capital city of Montenegro.
• Travel Time: The drive from Podgorica to Biogradska Gora typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and the exact route taken.
• Route: The most common route involves taking the E65/E80 highway north from Podgorica, followed by a turn onto the E762. This route passes through scenic landscapes and offers a glimpse of Montenegrin countryside.
