Travel magazines highlight travel recommendations for the coming year, so National Geographic recently published a list of the most exciting destinations for 2024.
The list includes 30 destinations around the world, from the Albanian "Alps" to the forests of Andrefana in Madagascar. Europe dominates almost half of the list with 13 destinations, including Malta's capital Valletta and Pompeii in Italy, reports Antena M.
According to The Cool list, the first place was taken by the Albanian Alps or Prokletije - a mountain massif that stretches across Montenegro and Albania. - Known as Prokletije, this kingdom of jagged peaks is a mountaineer's dream, where lynx roam the spruce forests and wild flowers cover the valley floor - according to National Geographic.
Second on the list is Belfast, and they say that this city in Northern Ireland has experienced a colorful increase in visitors in the 2010s, attracted in part by the new Titanic Experience museum. In third place is Emilia-Romagna in Italy, followed by Galloway Southern Ayrshire in Scotland, Nordland in Norway, and North Yorkshire in England.
Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula is another destination highlighted as one of the most exciting to travel next year, and it's no surprise, given that Mérida, the country's largest city, also made the list of popular destinations according to Booking.
Other destinations include Sikkim in India, which boasts stunning views of the Himalayas, and Victoria, Australia, thanks to a new trip that visits the area's thermal hot springs.
